Introduction
In the ‘In-classroom activity’, our students were encouraged to read and watch about Mr. D. Sivanandan
and about his initiative, Mumbai Roti Bank, which works towards eradicating hunger from India. In this
section, motivate students to explore more organisations working towards the same cause in India.
*Activity is recommended for Grade 8
th
and 9
th
students.
Expected Outcomes –
1. Students will be able to research about social sector/developmental sector and how these sectors
are working towards national and global issues.
2. Students will be able to collect facts about the organization and the opportunities to be associated
with the same.
3. Students will be motivated to volunteer with some NGO and take advantage of working with the
social sector.
Steps for the activity
1. Students need to search on internet about the NGOs working for Hunger in their city/area/state.
2. Students need to collect information about the following –
a. Name of the organization
b. Address
c. Year of establishment
d. Founder of the organization
e. Mission and Vision
f. Area of work
g. How the NGO created impact on society
*Make a collage/poster/ppt/flip chart, out of the information collected from research.
3. Students are encouraged to go that extra mile and can be associated with any NGO through their
Internship/volunteering opportunity and serve the society.
4. Research based activity can be done during the summer vacations, and students can present their
findings and learnings after the summer break to the teacher.
